ONE DESIRE Interpretive Worship Dance Ministry
Pastor Kay Dillard, Dance Coordinator
Psalm 150: 1-6 (NIV):
1 Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens. 2 Praise Him for His acts of power; praise Him for His surpassing greatness. 3 Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise Him with the harp and lyre, 4 praise Him with timbrel and dancing, praise Him with the strings and pipe, 5 praise Him with the clash of cymbals, praise Him with resounding cymbals. 6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.
The purpose of the Interpretive Worship Dance Ministry is to serve the Lord with our whole hearts, souls, minds, and bodies by allowing Him to minister to others through us as we praise Him through interpretive worship.
Our liturgical dance team is called ONE DESIRE because we have one and only one desire: to worship and glorify our mighty God and to help others do the same by sensing His presense, power, and love through liturgical worship.
The ONE DESIRE Liturgical Dance Team is not a PERFORMANCE group… we are a WORSHIP group. We come together to worship God by allowing Him to speak to each of us about expressing through liturgical worship our love for Him and His love for us.
Q: What is required to be on the dance team?
A: We have both adult and children’s dance teams. There are no age limits at either extreme for either group. An individual’s ability to focus, maturity, coachability, positive attitude and dedication to practice are more important factors than age.
Q: Do I need to know how to dance or do I need to have had dance lessons to be on the team?
A: No. If you are a born-again Christian, you love the Lord with all your heart, and you meet the requirements outlined in Q1, you can be on our dance team. You will learn all you need to know during our practices.
Q: What is the cost?
A: Dance team members will purchase their own undergarments (tights, leotards, footwear, etc.), but most outerwear will be provided.
Q: When is practice?
A: We practice on a weekly basis as needed prior to the time of ministering in dance. Common dance team practices previously have been on Wednesdays from 6:00 – 6:45 pm.
Q: What do we wear to practice?
A: Comfortable clothing; nothing too tight and nothing too loose. Example: comfortable t-shirt and capris.
