mike dillard bio

Date / Place of Birth /Places Lived – I was born on April 26, 1949 in Athens, GA where I lived most of my life. My wife, Kay, and I moved to Hull, GA in the fall of 2014 to be nearer our wonderful church home.

Education / Experience – I graduated from Athens High School in 1968. Most of my life, I have been in sales as a profession. After I was saved, I felt a strong calling on my life to preach. At age 50, I enrolled at Emmanuel College. I graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Christian ministries.

Salvation Experience – I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior at age 42 while I was going through a divorce.  The Lord brought me through the trials and tribulations that I experienced at that time.

Spiritual Experiences – I attended First Presbyterian in Athens where I served a coordinator of the usher ministry and head of the deacons.  Later, I joined and attended Living Faith Fellowship/Church of the Nations for 13 years serving as an usher, young adults’ ministry coordinator, and leader in the youth ministry.  Later, at Christian Life Worship Center, I served as Visitation Pastor.  In that role, I preached, taught Bible classes, and helped lead mission teams to Mexico 1-2 times a year to build churches, renovate dorms at a pastoral training school, take food & clothing to remote villages, preach, and teach VBS.  Later, my wife, Kay, and I started and pastored a church in west Athens for a few years where I served as Senior Pastor.  In 2012, the Lord changed our direction and led us to join Crossroads where I now serve as Visitation Pastor.

Favorite Things about Crossroads – I grew up knowing Pastor Morris and was reunited with him again in 2012.  During this divine appointment, he invited me to visit Crossroads.  That’s when I learned that Pastor Chris, one of my favorite instructors while attending Emmanuel College, was the worship leader.  After that tour and one Sunday worship service, my wife and I sensed a strong presence of the Holy Spirit here and felt so much love from the congregation.  Believing that Crossroads was the church at which God was calling us to join and serve, we have been here ever since.  It is awesome being reunited with Pastor Morris and Pastor Chris.

Family members –I’ve been married to Kay Dillard since March 23, 1996. Together, we have a blended family of my three daughters (Mary Carroll, Betsy, and Sharon), and Kay’s two children (Mary Katherine and Trey). Mary Carroll is married to Taylor Murray and Betsy is married to Ben Bahnsen. Mary Katherine is married to Adam Spence and Trey is married to Brittany Damron. Kay and I have a total of 14 grandchildren, each and every one very precious! My parents, Mary & Joseph (yep!) died when I was a teenager. I have one brother, Tommy Dillard, who lives in Athens. Kay and I together have four beloved 4-legged children named Prissy, Buddy, Romeo, and Jackie.

Hobbies – In my younger days, I loved to water ski, snow ski, and play church league softball.  Now that I have grown older and wiser, my hobbies include watching sports and fishing (when Kay can talk me into it).  All my life, I have been and forever will be a big Georgia Dawg fan.

Secret Ambition – My secret ambition is really no secret… I desire to serve the Lord with all my heart and be used in a powerful way to advance His kingdom. I would love to have enough money to build orphanages, schools, and churches where ever needed in third world countries. My wife and I sponsor four children in the Dominican Republic and have a heart for missions.
